Project description

Doing laundry can be time consuming and inconvenient, especially for busy individuals. This project set out to simplify that process through a mobile app that allows users to schedule laundry pickups right from their phones.

Challenge

Laundry is a chore people would gladly avoid, if they could. Many people, especially busy professionals, students, and families struggle to find time for laundry. Traditional laundry services often lack convenience, requiring customers to drop off and pick up their clothes themselves, unreliable delivery times, lack of real time updates, and limited communication with the service provider.

Process

To create a solution that truly meets user needs, I followed a human centered design approach, moving through key phases of discovery, ideation, and execution.

Research & Planning

I started by understanding user behaviour around laundry. Through informal interviews and surveys, I identified common pain points like, forgetting laundry drop-off or pickup times, not knowing where to find reliable laundry services, long turn around times without updates, a desire for more automation in daily chores.

Visual Design

Created intuitive user interfaces and interactive prototypes. Iteratively refined designs based on user feedback to enhance usability and visual appeal.

Prototyping & Testing

I developed a clickable prototype and tested it with a small group of users. Feedback helped me iterate on a few friction points.

From pickup to delivery, users can monitor their laundry’s progress.

Secure Payments

Users can pay directly through the app using multiple payment options, making the experience frictionless. Receipts and transaction history are stored for easy reference.

Quality Laundry Services

Clothes are taken to verified laundry partners, ensuring users receive clean laundered clothes.

Ratings & Feedback

After delivery, users can rate the service and provide feedback, helping improve quality and build trust.

Results

The laundry app successfully streamlined the laundry process for users, saving them time and reducing the stress of managing laundry.

85% of users completed their first booking without assistance, indicating a smooth and intuitive user flow.

Positive feedback during user testing praised the real time tracking and ease of booking.

Users reported increased trust due to transparent status updates and rider tracking.

The app reduced the average laundry turnaround time by 30% by optimizing pickup and delivery coordination.

Several users described the experience as convenient, time-saving, and exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Even in its early stage, the app demonstrated that thoughtful UX combined with reliable logistics can make a significant difference in everyday routines.
